All this talk of retaining Golden if he can manage a Coastal title this season has me seriously depressed. Remember when a one loss season was viewed as a profound disappointment because it meant that we were not going to play for the title? THAT is where Miami football belongs and THAT is what we need to get the program back to. I don't believe for one minute that Golden is the guy that can build a perennial powerhouse that strikes fear into opposing teams like the Miami of old. At best, he might be a Mark Richt kind of coach that will occasionally get you to 9 or 10 wins and maybe a division or even a conference title every now and then. But, he will never win the whole enchilada. I, for one, would view a Coastal title and retention of Golden after this year as a disappointment. I want him gone - win or lose - after this season so that we can get a proven winner.
