Man I love animals but many kids are going to grow up not being able to go to the circus. I remember many a night at the Miami Beach Convention Center going as a kid and then taking my kids. First the Killer Whales and now the Circus. Sad.
Never been to that. Isn't that a bunch of flaming guys without any animals.Cirque du soliel killed them
ExactlyNever been to that. Isn't that a bunch of flaming guys without any animals.
I don't know. I was working at the South Fla fair yesterday and there were a lot of kids there looking at the smelly animals. Not too mention still a lot of kids going to the Zoo'sLike the World's Fair, it was a wonderful thing in it's prime........which was many years ago.
Back then, there were only books, a few black and white tv channels and word of mouth about these kinds of animals and wonders. Attending the circus for many young children (and adults) was the first and sometimes only time one could see these animals, "marvels", clowns, and other unique acts.
For many years, it was truly a thrill.
Now, most children would find it smelly, mundane and boring. Sad really in a way.
Yeah me tooMan I love animals but many kids are going to grow up not being able to go to the circus. I remember many a night at the Miami Beach Convention Center going as a kid and then taking my kids. First the Killer Whales and now the Circus. Sad.
Yes Quick story - I drove cross country in a van with the kids in 2000. From South Florida all the way across to Vegas, Grand Canyon, through the Rocky Mountains back across the north side through St Louis and back down the east coast etc. It was like the movie vacation. Believe it back then media wasn't as it is now so the kids saw so many sights that were incredible. Now with the phones, car entertainment systems etc the kids would miss the world going by. That he sad.Its not the elephants but people are to busy looking at their i phones to engage in the moment. Going out to the circus was an event to share with who you were out with. Took a picture on New Years eve and to my surprise more than half the people were looking down into their phones instead of ENGAGING with the people that were there. sad

Agreed but there are far worse atrocities being done to animals in the world right now. Damn I don't think I have seen a CNN documentary or the movie stars speaking out on very much on finning for example. Seal slaughters, Bear bile milking etc. Both killer whales and elephants are tortured for our entertainment, there's no denying they are a marvel to see up close, but it's a cruel practice that had to end. The killer whale here in San Diego also used one of the trainers as a rag doll, there's no real relationship between the animals and their trainers, they perform for food and to avoid punishment. Both killer whales and elephants migrate over thousands of miles in their natural environment but are confined to cells and pools for these shows, that's a lot more sad than the end of the circus.
