From the indy drill videos today, people are not going to like this and I will get ripped but James Williams is not ready to hit the field and certainly not start.
his was absolutely terrible in the squeeze, leverage, rip and force drill. Was probably the worst of all the DB’s. Fought caught inside. Could not maneuver a rip move (which is what they were teaching);and turned his body inside instead of staying square. So bad that T-Rob made him go again in the drill.
his back pedal was average at best and his weight distribution/balance is off which ruts his transition from back pedal to forward movement. got away with his superior athleticism in high school but lack of technique won’t fly in college.
not saying he will be a bust but he needs a lot of coaching up still, so don’t freak out if this kid is not starting right away and needs time to develop.
not all is bad news
Kam Kichen looks like he can play and possibly start right now. Physically looked as big as amy if the DBs out there. His hips and footwork is spot on. Great transition. Notice in drills he was one of few that did nit drop one ball.
his run technique in leverage rip and force drill was best of the group. Physical player.
Keyshawn Washington really hit the weight room in off season. Looks way thicker than last year and he has to be legit 6’3”. Pretty good footwork and technique as well.
ok, go ahead and rip me on James Williams but if you really know football, you know Imam right.
