the miami heat will wear nicknames on the back of jerseys

Seriously, There are some jealous non Heat fans on this board! I think it is a fun idea that will sell lots of Jerseys!! Go Canes and Go Heat! Ok to not be a Heat fan but don't be acting that way toward our hometown Basketball team!

Eh, just an NBA marketing ploy. Younger folk will probably like it, traditionalists wont. Wins are the only thing I care about. If they keep it to two or three guys it will be fine, and I'm sure other teams will be doing the same. New York, Chicago and L.A probably already have their jersey nicknames already picked out too.

NBA has done a great job of staying current and engaging fans. This will sell merch and add an element of fun and debate. We are talking about basketball jerseys and the season has not even begun. Smart marketing.

Lol. I love the fact that you were miserable watching the Heat repeat this year as you were talking so much shyt about them.
Not miserable at all. If you can't see them for what they are - great basketball players who are definition of d-bags then I don't know what to tell you. Enjoy your time cheering for those clowns.

Mako it's the league's idea. So the league shouldn't allow the Heat to do what the league wants the Heat to do? Not an NBA fan myself but nothing wrong with adding fun to a sport.

Andy multiculturalism is here to stay. Look to your left look to your right. Language chauvanism is a dead letter. Happy Days culture in the dust bin of history.

I mean exactly what allowed means lol. The league shouldn't allow anything other than a player's actual name to be on the back of their jersey.
you are too intelligent to make this kind of statement!

You know this for fact or your just speculating? If so please link the article because I haven't seen any leaguewide memorandums calling for teams to act like d-bags.

I'm not sure what you mean here.....no other professional sport in the U.S. allows whole teams to put nicknames on their jerseys. Doesn't seem like something David Stern (a guy who brought on the suit dress code) would encourage either.

Also will they put Birdman on a jersey......or his more recent one.....Child Pornographer lol?

the league shouldnt allow themselves to do this?..It come from the league, its not the NBA stars asking the leagues permission to wear nicknames on jerseys is what I mean..lets go heat, lets go dolphins,LETS GO CANES!!!

I repeat I would buy "birdman, king james, big ticket, dirk, black mamba and others in a heart beat!!!!

Put me down for a Birdman and a Mr. 305. My El Heat Jersey is my favorite. This will give some variety since my kids started referring to me as "El Heat", and calling it my lucky shirt.

A lot of Heat Haters here, but Nets are doing it too. It's the NBA doing it similar to Latino Month with El Heat and Los Spurs etc.

Thanks for putting a link to confirm it may actually happen, up until now I had seen nothing on it and thought it was a "heat" idea.

As for me, it's not hating on the heat....it's hating on the idea in general. Having said that, why am I not surprised that the 2nd team that might do it is the team that has quickly made themselves #2 in the dbag rankings this offseason (the nets). Tallk about a lot of talk for a team that hasn't done anything yet.

Order a customized jersey for god sake. Be the first one wearing it or save lots of $$$$$

Big Heat fan, this shit is foolish. Only Birdman got the nickname that used through out the streets. But they the champs and if someone don't like it then beat them.

Don't care if it was the Pacers doing it, I think it's stupid. The NBA already has an image problem and this won't help that. I know some think it's a cool idea. Other's this will alienate further from the sport. I know it really started with Bird, Magic, Michael but, the biggest turnoff to the NBA right now is the individualism the sport promotes so heavy. It's revolting how much LBJ is covered and praised by all the media outlets. No fault of his own but, ten years ago you didn't have it shoved down your throat quite as much. This whole idea reminds me of a recreational league amongst friends when you'rein high school or college.

As long as I don't have to see some dudes boxer shorts with their f-in shorts half way down their ass, they can put whatever they want on their uniform.
