He reaches across party lines to get to the best solutions instead of merely voting the way Schumer says he should

No, Raoul, maybe I was not clear. My definition of a good US Senator, regardless of party affiliation, is one who is willing to cross party lines to reach a good decision or to support someone who he believes in. I think it is obvious that Manchin's constituents would agree.

This is why you like Manchin-he has voted with the majority of Senate Republicans on 1,172 different votes of 54% of the votes he has taken as a U.S. Senator. How do you think he keeps getting re-elected in deep red W. Virginia? Might as well change Parties! Manchin's campaign raised nearly $300,000 from corporations and executives after he publicly opposed Biden's spending, climate and social safety net package.

No Mike, that is not what I said. I like him because he votes mind and his conscious, not a party line. If we had 99 more like him Wash DC might just not be so toxic and something positive that benefits all Americans might just be accomplished. Why is that so hard to understand? Too utopian for you?

Manchin is a DINO. He even voted against the voting rights bills which are essential for a well functioning democracy because of Republican opposition to it. He's always looking for bi-partisan support from people who have v owed to block Biden's entire agenda and obstructing anything that might actually help all Americans.

The majority of citizens of West Virginia disagree with you. They elected Joe Manchin to represent their interests, not those of Chuckie Shumer and New York liberals. If they had wanted the West Virginia Senate seat to be a 3rd seat for New York they could have elected spineless jelly fish like Georgia did with Ossoff and Warnock.

And BTW, I still do not fully trust Manchin. But Biden and Shumer have been so pathetic he knows he will lose in 2024 if he supports some of the recent garbage they have been putting up.

W. Virginia is a deep red state and keep re-electing Manchin because he is a DINO.

With you it's always the party line. Maybe you should branch out and start considering opinions that differ from your own. It seems to me that democrats only support you if you are 100% behind their stances; otherwise you get cancelled, blacklisted and called a dino. You really are starting to sound like Cems

Thanks for the compliment. Cems is one of my favorite posters on this board. As for Manchin, he reaps big financial rewards from a network of coal companies with grim records of pollution, safety violations and death!

Well, I can understand that because you are both classic examples of linear thinkers. You're both stuck in an endless pattern of repetitive thoughts that eventually become barriers to cognitive growth and innovation. Same old, same old...sound familiar?

Would you prefer he earn his money the Hunter Biden way?

If Cems and I are both linear thinkers, what type of thinker posts praise for a man whose wealth has been accumulated through controversial coal-related businesses including using his political muscle to keep open the dirtiest coal plant in his home state.

We already have Voters Rights parrot. We have Federal and in each and every State we have these Rights.

I was referring to the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2021, proposed legislation that would restore and strengthen parts of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Freedom to Vote Acts. Polly want a cracker?

Manchin is a rarity in the Democratic party being a relatively financial responsible politician. He is his own thinker, not the sheep that follow the leader.
I find this refreshing that he stood up against progressive and liberal irresponsibility.

He protects his own interests: the coal industry, energy companies to perpetuate his own interests. Last year he received well over $500,000 in donations from these firms. He is involved in US coal companies sending coal to China. I recently spoke to a cousin who lives in Marysville, WA. She had to stop at a railroad crossing and she witnessed over 100 cars filled with coal. He isnt squeaky clean.

By Golly, do you mean to say that this guy actually had the nerve to sell a legal product? Nearly 20% of US electrical output is still from coal.

Why is it we, the USA is helping a autocracy with human rights issues and there are economic issues between China and the USA. For all we know they, China is giving, selling the coal to DPRK. The same country that launches missiles that land off the coast of Japan and ROK.

How many examples of other senators doing the same things would you like starting with Biden (Hunter) and Pelosi. Doesn't make it right but that's the way it is.

Yep, you're right. Manchin is the only politician who has enriched himself representing his own district/state. Come on, see the big picture.

Hawaii COAL is West Virginias largest resource. A necessary resource whether you agree with it or not. Representatives and Senators are elected to represent their State, the citizens and interests of their state. Not Hawaii, not NY. If they don't do that then what good are they.

Why is the NBA helping an autocracy with human rights issues by having their overpriced shoes made by slave labor there? What does China do with all the profits from those shoes? Do they use them to help prop up N Korea and China's expansionism around the world?

Coal is already losing ground in the region and across the country as low natural gas prices and the falling cost of renewable energy have priced many coal plants out of the market. In 2019, the energy value of the state's natural gas production surpassed that of W. Virginia's coal production for the first time.

Curious Mikey,
Where ya going with your coal usage satistics, even if true? The market will decide what form of energy makes sense for individual use cases. The OP was about supporting Senator Joe Manchin's independence and voting for his constituents desires. It seems that you think if you spout off enough green weenie talking points that Manchin will just agree to become New York's 3rd Senator. Which goes back to the OP and what is pissing off you dems - that Manchin votes to represent West Virginia, not New York
