Both teams are fundamentally flawed; both teams' respective fan bases are calling for major changes; both teams have had inconsistent play; both teams are struggling to get bowl eligible; both are 4-4; but both teams still have a s**t ton of talent.
Both fan bases see a lot of their opponent in their own team.
Offense: With JW starting, the key will be the running game. I don't see a lot of big plays down the field, and JW has struggled with both over-checking-down the ball and self-sacks for bad negative plays. Accordingly, it is imperative that DeeJay/Cam get a lot of good gains on 1st Down. Sure, every team wants to get good yards on 1st Down, but when 3rd and 7 feels like completing a Hail Mary........ You get the picture. In addition, I don't trust Danmark Penosofrio. Furthermore, Florida State still has talent in that secondary. I think that first downs, red zone trips, and overall points (with the kicking game being a total s**t show) will be few and far between...
Defense: Which is why the Defense will have to set the tone with quick 3-and-outs, and 2-3 turnovers to create short fields for JW, similar to what we saw with Florida. The idea of needing 2-3 turnovers just to have a shot of beating a 4-4 un-ranked Florida State team seems daunting, but given the piss poor offense and erratic Special Teams, what else can we realistically rely on tomorrow...? The Linebackers have far underachieved this year in my opinion- if they have one game of showing everyone why they were expected to truly be elite this year, then now would be the time to do it. All hands on deck with the Defense, and it starts with the LB group.
Overall: I see a lot of 2017 ugly in this game tomorrow. I could a 3-3 1st Quarter start, and maybe a touchdown by FSU at home and another field goal in the 2nd Quarter by us to trail 10-6 at Halftime. Think we'll come out and score a touchdown in the 3rd Quarter, and FSU will hit a FG, and the game will be tied at 13-13 going in to the 4th Quarter. I think FSU hits a field goal with about 7-10 minutes left to take a 16-13 lead, but we engineer a touchdown late and win 20-16.
