Why is DeSantis killing jobs?

Thanks for your comments on my posts related to football as well as food and wine.

Yes, LOL, I guess we are not gonna agree on DeSantis. You said that the bill “was done live on national TV.” We do agree, I think, that only Fox was allowed to cover and broadcast the signing event. Is that correct?

Our difference, then, is that I don’t believe that restricting the TV coverage to Fox viewers is either
”national TV” or “transparent.” Rather, it’s a partisan nod and explicit prejudice towards a specialized subset of voters supportive of DeSantis.

Ok... that we can agree on! It was a partisan nod and deliberately so in order to make Fox News loyalists feel like they were exclusively being rewarded. But let's not get it twisted... Democrats do the same shit ALL THE TIME on multiple media outlets and sources.

I didn't think it was the right move... but look at us now still discussing it. Had he opened it up to all media it would've been another run-of-the-mill bill signing.

Right or wrong... it got the desired result, and results are all that matter. If he gets the nod in 2024 as the Republican nominee, the ends would have justified the means. Were a long way from 2024 so anything could happen...

But here we are, still talking about it on a Miami Hurricane website 😂

RK,

Is DeSantis your preferred candidate for the 2024 Repub Presidential nomination?

That race is gonna be a food fight if DJT doesn’t run. If DJT runs, he’s likely to get the nomination unless indictments or some crazy behavior derails him. In that case….

Whaddaya think of:

Hawley
Cruz
Pence
Haley
Cotton
DeSantis
etc.

Would like to know your thoughts. Thanks.

Cortea,

Those that don't learn from history are doomed to repeat its failures.

The German Nazi's were in bed with "private" industry to do horrible things to those that did not conform to the Third Reich. These "private" business were more than willing to lay down with Hitler's tyrannical government.

We can debate the various merits of vaccines and masks. But when a private company joins in with government goals to create groups advertised as bad people and deserving of distain by the "enlightened" our individual freedoms begin to dissapear. Your vax cruise idea starts down that slippery slope. How about "No Transgender", Asian only, BLM supporters only, no Republicans allowed cruises, etc?
17,

Im a bit surprised that your normally calm, rational self has gone off the rails here.

ex.

My fax cruise idea? I didn’t make this up. It started in Israel (high rate of vaccines) to jumpstart tourism. Netanyahu loved it. Then, a Miami based cruise line introduced the same idea. This is free enterprise, not a government plot.

Private company joins in with the government. What are you talking about? The cruise lines are trying to attract a market segment of potential cruisers. No joint venture here with the government.

In reaction to the above, DeSantis intervened to veto the idea. I was shocked cuz I thought Republicans defended free enterprise and encouraged entrepreneurial thinking. Not so here where DeSantis’ pandering to anti vax Trumpers defeated any sympathy he might have for private business.

Lets compare business interventions as you say between DeSantis and Democrat governor Newsom.

Desantis has read a history book, and protests Florida citizens.

Newsome along with Democrat governors in other cities put thousands of small businesses out of business.

Reasonable people say Desantis wins this one.

Mah... the list you have there is full of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Good... but not really great... yet.

-Cruz had his time but he's not gonna win the nod. Dude will be eviscerated for leaving Texas when it froze.
-Pence had his time and there is no way he gets the nod. He won't even be consider for VP if DJT runs again.
-Haley would be a good candidate as it would show the Republican party as a little more progressive in the eyes of the youth by having a female on the ticket but she hasnt made a name for herself as being tough like DeSantis... but she may need a bit more seasoning. A cabinet post or even VP nod to help build her resume'.
-Hawley needs to grow up a little bit and earn some key victories, similarly to Haley.
-Cotton is... well... just not DeSantis. Plus he's from Arkansas.

The wild card is Trump. Honestly, I don't know if he would want to run again. Of course, his ego and pride may dictate otherwise... but even if he did, he may not get the support from the GOP based on the way the media spun his attempted "insurrection". They made him out to be Hitler. He's been demonized, possibly beyond repair. I do not agree that he will get the automatic nod from the GOP. It appears the GOP is doing their best to ostracize him and keep their distance.

While the American people may support him... he'll need the Party to back him as well and they may decide that the risk to the Party itself may be too great. If Trump doesnt win, the backlash every GOP member would face could effectively end the Party altogether. And, lets be honest... with the way Dems have figured out how to rig elections... whose to say a Republican will ever win again?!? (Yes... a tasteless jab, but it was just too easy to not slip in 😂).

I personally feel Trump will make his attempt in the 2022 primaries as a Senator or Rep and push to gain his spot as minority/majority leader. He'll most likely fail... for the same reasons above. But that's his best shot at staying in the game for now. His only chance is to have so much overwhelming support from the American public (which he may very well get) that it essentially forces the GOP to accept him back in.

DeSantis is THE GUY. He's a "more polished" and likable version of Trump. He'll be "America First" without the "mean tweets" that send so many snowflakes into a tizzy. Liberals will HATE him for how likable he is... while he implements his policies they so adamantly oppose. Add Haley to the ticket as VP candidate and... sorry to say... but Dems will have to work twice as hard as they did in 2020 to rig that election. (Once again... just too easy to pass up!!)

The DeSantis-Haley ticket is a sound choice. Will Vegas take your bet?

Haley said some very critical things about Trump post the Jan 6 “event”. (Note: I didn’t use “armed insurrection” which is my preferred term.). Will those comments be forgiven by DJT and the GOP?

I too predict that Trump either won’t run or won’t win the 2024 nomination. His baggage is heavy and he continues to argue that the election was stolen. That is neither a platform nor a rallying cry in the tradition of MAGA.

FYI, I told my daughter 12 months before the 2020 election that the Dem ticket would be Biden-Harris. Looked unlikely for Joe until the South Carolina primary. Then, he pulled away finding the middle ground of the party with strong Black support. Did I win big bucks? No. But, my daughter gave me a high 5!

I tell you what... if there is a line in Vegas for that bet I'd lay it today.

A DeSantis/Haley ticket may be the best shot the GOP has to try and regain office. Too much has changed in the world to keep parading old white guys out there to convince voters.

Old white men arent cool... never really have been. Used to be that old white dudes werent cool but they had the required funds it took to win office. Nowadays, even having the funding won't be enough.

After 4 years of watching Biden stumble over his words (and feet) on his way to being carted off to an assisted living facility... young, vibrant, energetic people are going to be what America wants.

That's what DeSantis/Haley will have.

I'd prefer Tim Scott on the ticket but I'd take Manny and Blake over Sleepy and heels up

Tim Scott would be a strong candidate. I think he is poised, fair and would resonate among young votes and black voters as well. For far too long, the GOP has been labeled as the racist party that wants to hold black Americans back, when in truth it is the opposite.

Tim would be a huge shake-up for sure... as it would show that the unfair labeling of the GOP as an old white man's type of political party is false. It could be a titanic shift in the narrative.

The question is... is he seasoned enough? Does he have the chops yet to be President? Has he earned the respect and loyalty of the GOP? You could replace Haley with him pretty easily... but swapping him for DeSantis could look too much like pandering as well. The liberal media would flip the story from a historic appointment of a black GOP nominated President with a female VP candidate from a story of accomplishment and progression; to a story about how the GOP is so desperate to seize control that they just rubber stamped a black guy and white woman to be on the ticket... essentially pissing in everyone corn flakes and unfairly diminishing the achievement altogether.

Politics is a NASTY business. Tim Scott would be a fine candidate... unfortunately, I don't think he would come out on top, and he would face an insane amount of scrutiny.

Of course... I would love to see how the liberal left would try to smear his name. Would be fun to watch them spin in circles while they try to figure out how to bad-mouth him without coming off as racist.

FYI. Haley isn’t a white woman. She’s South Asian..parents are Sikhs from India. Her father wears the turban, beard and uncut hair required of Sikh men.

She and Tim Scott are both from the same state…South Carolina. Doubt they would pair up…two minority candidates from the same state? Not likely

If Tim Scott doesn't have any skeletons, it would be a great gamble. But they'll scrutinize whomever gets on the ticket. It's already open season on Desantis with the 60 Minutes debacle and the Cruise nonsense.

...and I didn't mean to overlook your analysis, which is very much on point. I just don't know if Haley would be a good choice. But I'd vote for her for sure.

All good... certainly didnt "trigger" me! LoL!

I'm not an expert on politicians or even politics. (But I can play the politics game pretty well when I need to) I pay attention, but not closely. I didnt even know Haley and Scott were both from SC, or that Haley was Asian. 😂 I just hear names, read articles and check the results of who is making waves and that's about it. I tend to look at trends and results and think that the GOP can really make a splash with a diverse ticket, especially because of the false narrative that the Liberals and media have sold young Americans on that the GOP are all racists and bigots. Its a big opportunity to show some "progression" within the party and I think will resonate with voters.
