People get minimal information and vote on shallow preferences or out of perceived personal benefit. Alot of voters were afraid their food stamps would cut off ,pensions stopped etc unless they voted for Obama.The problem is there is a point at which a government collapses due to too many people sucking from the government and too few paying in. Insanely, the government has been inviting in illegal aliens and teaching them how to apply for govt assistance when the government is broke. It sues states to prevent them from deporting illegals and making sure they dont vote.
WE are at a level where our yearly deficits are more than our GDP and a president just got elected who will do nothing about it because there are now a majority of voters who are too stupid to understand history and economics. They blame Bush for the economy when it was the Democrats running Fannie Mae into the ground. Bush tried to stop it and the Democrats including Frank, Dodd ,and Waters shouted him down. They fault Bush for spending on the prescription assistance when the Democrats proposed a much more expensive plan. Bush had incompetent or corrupt Securities and exchange monitors.
The fact is both Bush and Obama are incompetent but Obama stands for a system doomed to failure. When the drones that voted for Obama stop getting checks because the treasury is in freefall they will get their just dessert. People with the foresight to avoid the clutches of this current government will be the ones that save it after it collapses.People will learn if you dont work you dont eat and if you pop out 5 babies with no husband or means of support you will pay back society for your irresponsibility.

I agree completely. Lets get these Teat sucking fools off the govt dole. That would be the Oil companies that get HUGE subsidies, Corporations given tax breaks for having their headquarters overseas, and Hedgefund managers who get HUGE tax breaks. amongst other TEAT SUCKERS.

This is what the election was all about....what is the proper role of the federal government...assist or control?
Those who voted for Obama either believe and want federal government running their lives because they don't want to or can't OR they didn't really understand what he is trying to do.
Anybody that voluntary wants an intrusive federal government invading their privacy and controlling their "freedoms" is simply beyond my comprehension. Anybody that can read stuff like this and just say "so what" ...well, they have their head buried in the sand for various reasons unrelated to politics.

Thats BS and you know it. The Republican party passed the Civil rights Bills despite opposition from the Democrats and the Emancipation Proclamation was written by the first Republican president . Yes, I remember all the Republicans standing behind Lyndon Johnson. But thats not my point. My point is, that if you believe in States Rights, over the rights of the Federal Govt, then we may as well go back to pre-civil war america. If I remember my history correctly, the Civil War was all about States Rights.

The disrespect some of you are showing OUR President of the United States is disconcerting. Whether you voted for him or not, he is our leader for the next 4 years and you should try to get behind him. I for one, voted for Mr. Obama and am damn proud of it. And no, I'm not a minority; I just believe in his vision for our great country. I encourage you all to read the The Audacity of Hope and understand where he's coming from with some of his "leftist" policies. It's not marxism, and it's sure as hell not communism.

While you are telling us all how it is, please show me the documentations of these "subsidies" and corporate tax breaks and how much they are adding to the deficit.
I'm not a right wing nut but anybody that doesn't realize that Obama at his core is at very minimum a hard core socialist is blind and deaf. If you agree with him then that is your right but that is what he is. John F. Kennedy would be considered a right wing nut if he ran today with the same policies that he had as president.
The problem with the shrinking middle class is because energy, food and housing costs are too high and not enough people are getting good paying jobs. It isn't because the greedy wealthy 1% is sucking up all the wealth so they can roll around in their money bins. Raising taxes on the top 1% or 2% or whatever won't do a thing to fix anything. The freaking YEARLY deficits under Obama are over $1 TRILLION. You could tax everybody and everything at 100% and we'd still have hundreds of billions a year in deficits.
As far as individual freedoms go, you are mixing individual and business freedoms. If I want to discriminate against purple people in my personal life I have every right to do so. If I have a business that is licensed then I can't in my business life. Of course the thing that you "left wing nuts" don't realize is that most of us "right wing nuts" don't judge people by skin color, we judge them on thier abilities. Not supporting gay marriage doesn't mean that somebody is anti-gay it just means that you believe in the way marriage was defined. Bush didn't crash the markets and the economy. It was policies dating back to Clinton that compelled banks to give mortgages to people that couldn't afford them under the guise of "racial equality". What happened is that now a lot more people could buy houses which made values start going up (due to supply and demand). Once the values started going up the banks got more loose in their lending because they didn't care if people foreclosed. The value was up anyway so the bank could sell it. Everybody was happy until 2008 when the prices got to the point that people couldn't afford to keep buying. Once the values started to drop everything crashed because now the foreclosures caused huge losses. The paper losses made things worse and the Banking industry collapse killed the economy.
Also, I did literally cry when Obama was re-elected. I'm not bitter, I'm distraught because we're going to be in the exact same place 4 years from now as a country. This is not America. No matter who has been President in my lifetime, America has always been about working hard and trying to achieve things. Only the last 4 years has America turned into a country of how can we punish the "rich" so that I can have an iPhone and a big TV while working 30 hours a week. It is sad and you should be sad too.
Getting behind a democratic President is one thing...Bill Clinton was fine by me.
Getting behind somebody telling me what freedoms he prefers me to have, what insurance I must carry, and how and where to save the amount of income I have left over once he taxes the shit out of me...sorry, I have never lived in that country and do not have to be happy or "get behind" ideas that contradict the founding principals of the U.S.

What does pre-civil war mean? States rights and civil war were basically about slavery so I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about. The big argument now about states rights are women's right (abortion), universal healthcare and such. These weren't problems pre-civil war. I agree a lot of politicians both Dem and Rep are in bed with big oil. There's a fine line to walk with those companies, and most have crossed it.

No, Obama told all those demographic groups what they wanted to hear (as well as scared women that Romney would make birth control illegal) and they voted for him (less than they did in 2008 BTW). He is a socialist that has convinced people that he isn't one. I'm not running from the truth. What really bothers me is the gloating of the Obama supporters like this is some Miami-FSU rivalry game. When Bush beat Kerry, the Bush supporters weren't running around cheering and shoving it in the faces of the Kerry supporters. The great uniter has turned out to be a bigger divider than Bush was and Bush's second term was a disaster (something that even somebody that voted for him can admit).
I will keep crying for at least 4 years and I'll get behind Obama the day that he comes up with some ideas that will actually improve things. I will not get behind him while he plays class warfare so that he can "get" the rich white guys. I would even support his tax increase plan if in return for every dollar of tax increase there were $2 of REAL (not government accounting bs where the reduce the rate of growth and call it a cut) spending cuts. Even doing that would still leave $750 billion in deficits but at least it would move in the right direction.

Alot of the "Tax Codes" Obama wants to put in place is similar to what president Bill Clinton did during his term in office. If you're to young ask your parents about Ronald Regan, during his term in office i believe taxes were higher then what Obama wants to implement and with Regans higher tax's came job growth and a thriving economy.
The part about, what freedom "Obama" prefers you to have, what insurance you must carry, and how and where to save your money is typical "right wing rederick" that holds no weight in any credible POLITICAL ARGUEMENT, simiply because your facts and assumptions are not true.
Under Bill Clinton ALL tax rates were higher not just on the top 1%. The economy was good under Clinton due to a combination of the dotcom bubble and a budget with a surplus (which was arrived at by him working WITH the Republican congress not fighting at every term). The economy wasn't good BECAUSE of the higher tax rates but IN SPITE OF them. If there was going to be a surplus then I'd support bringing taxes back to the Clinton rates. However (through fault of BOTH parties) spending has gotten so out of control that rasing taxes won't get anywhere near a balanced budget. There is no upside to them except for the "feel good" moment of punishing the rich white guys even though a lot of not so rich middle class people will get hurt by Obama's plan. Especially small business that are taxed as individuals that have incomes that can fluctuate and be $300,000 one year and $50,000 the next. On average they don't make that much but they get killed with high taxes the one good year.
As far as Reagan, taxes were much higher when he came into office. His whole economic plan was lowering taxes to improve the economy which is what he did. By the time Reagan left office, tax rates were lower than they are now.
BTW, there is a great video on youtube somewhere of John F. Kennedy advocating for lowering tax rates to grow the economy. Like I said, he'd be considered a right wing nut if he ran today.
