Honestly, from my perspective and like I said earlier every sailor, soldier, airmen and marine plays a part and they're all important. Some jobs just require more training. That Culinary Specialist in the Navy feeds the sailors who actually launched those Tomahawk missiles into Syria and to answer your question, cooks in the Navy don't necessarily pick their own meals per se. The galley or chow hall as we call it (cafeteria) have daily menus but they can hook themselves up with whatever they want. I imagine it would be just like working in a restaurant. A cook in the Navy is one of your best friends at sea them and payroll folks. Have a Happy Easter weekend.
