Transfer Portal News

Justin Rogers, DT from Kentucky, is officially in the transfer portal and will visit Miami Saturday. Auburn is trying to get him on campus the following week. Rogers has over 60 tackles over three seasons with the Wildcats. LSU, Georgia, Oregon, and Louisville are also interested. Rogers is a junior out of Detriot Michigan and was a five-star prospect coming out of the 2020 class and second overall defensive tackle. He's listed at 6'3" and 332 pounds. Exactly what Miami needs at D-Tackle.

Matt Lee offensive lineman is looking good for the Hurricanes but no imminent date for a visit just yet. Lee was the starting Center for UCF that has a high IQ. He's listed at 6'4" and 295 pounds.

I'd be on the lookout for WR Andrel Anthony Jr. Miami offensive Coordinator Josh Gattis has a strong relationship with Anthony. The former Wolverine is (6'2" 190 pounds) out of east Lansing. The sophomore had seven catches for 80 yards and a touchdown in 2022. Anthony was a three-star prospect coming out of high school from the 2021 class.

He's on the first play of this review.

Talked to a Source About Cormani McClain...

Hearing that he is without a doubt signing with Miami. This was not a production led by McClain but people in his circle. Keep hearing he hates the recruiting attention and that the relationship with DVD has been and is still a huge reason he ends up with Miami. If someone were to poach DVD, maybe things would change prior to the second signing day. I doubt that ends up happening and I see Miami solidifying an elite class with the top ranked non-quarterback in the 2023 class.

Coach DVD once again mentioned by top player

2025 four-star CB Anquon Fegans, a top 10 player in the class, is one of the top targets for Miami regardless of class. He is as elite as they come, intercepting double-digit passes this year. His brother ended up heading to Alabama but it seems DVD is doing everything he can to stop the Crimson Tide from going 2-2 in the family. Fegans mentioned DVD multiple times and we have seen him do the same thing with Cormani McClain.

Julian Sayin Committed but Still in Contact with Miami

Got a chance to talk to five-star Alabama commit QB Julian Sayin on Friday. He said he is still hearing from Miami via QB coach Frank Ponce mainly but says he is still currently committed. He said the right things but I am hearing potential visits may still happen. RAW is deeply tied to Miami and with opportunities to have him down South, I think the relationship with Miami will only build.

Another DT Visiting Miami This Weekend

Miami is focusing on building depth at defensive tackle through the transfer portal here in January.

Branson Deen DT from Purdue posted on his Instagram story that he is down here in Miami. The 6'2" 280-pound D-Lineman was named All-Big ten honorable mention by coaches and media in 2021. He made 11 starts in that year and finished second on the team in tackles for loss with 9.5. His four sacks were good for fourth on the team.

In 2022 he registered 18 solo tackles and 2.5 sacks.

He was a three-star prospect coming out of Indiana's Lawrence Central High School.

2024 the Year of the Elite QB

Miami is in prime position to grab one of the top quarterbacks in the upcoming class. The top guys as of right now are St. Frances (MD)'s Michael Van Buren and Langston Hughes (GA)'s Air Norland but conversations have been had with the likes of five-stars Dylan Raiola and Julian Sayin.

Sayin is a player Miami has had a relationship with and was considering before committing to Alabama. Him playing for the RAW seven-on-seven program will pay dividends, seeing as he will likely be on campus multiple times before spring practice starts for HS.

Raiola hearing from Miami right before he decommitted and him not immediately jumping to Nebraska shows me he is keeping his options open. He was building relationships with local wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Joshisa Trader for the purposes of getting them to Ohio State. If Raiola has completely taken OSU out of the equation (hearing Jayden Davis is the guy for OSU now) and Miami continues to build that relationship with the top prospect in the country, pushing the idea of the elite WR duo staying home could make things very interesting.

There are other targets (have an article coming out today) but I would say Miami is going to shoot for the top of the list in Raiola and Sayin or get their guy in Van Buren or Norland. Van Buren is being pursued heavily by Maryland, LSU, Penn State, and Oregon while Norland has Texas A&M and Auburn vying for a commitment from him.

The 2024 quarterbacks seem to be coming off the board very early, as 11 of the top 25 have already locked in with schools. Miami will have momentum coming out of the dead period and another elite prospect day will likely getting multiple of their QB targets on campus. With the way Cristobal pushes, watch out for a QB commit sooner than later.

Basketball School?

Miami clearly has one of the best teams in the country.

This team is exciting and easy to root for. They deserve all the support the city can give. The next couple of months will be an indicator of how great this team will be and how much the city rallies around them. The atmoshphere's for the ACC games has been great so far. I expect that to continue.

The question is will the fan base rally around the team and start selling out the Watsco center regardless?

How much does Miami really care about college basketball? Or does Miami just love to support a winning team?

Hamlin

For someone that has been watching football since he was 2 years old, I was completely stunned by what I saw to Damar Hamlin Monday night.

It was a normal football play. So bizarre that someone could possibly die from making such a tackle such as that.

It conveys that anyone can die on any play. We love this game, but what I felt when seeing what unfolded, it made me question the safety of football overall.

I pray he’s okay and survives. My heart aches for his family.

This story will rock the football world and will make all think twice about the dangers of the sport.

Brother U?

Heard there is legit interest for Memphis tight end Caden Prieskorn (Had 700 yards receiving last year) and his little brother Brady Prieskorn who is a top 100 2024 prospect.

Miami has success with getting brothers to commit to Miam (Francis, Franciso Mauigoa, Davonte, Damari Brown, Robby, Bobby Washington). Could this be another tandem headed toward Coral Gables?

Certainly, a situation to watch on the go forward.

Four-Star QB Target Coming to South Florida to Play with Local 7v7 Team

Langston Hughes (GA) four-star QB Air Norland will be playing for DEFCON this 7on7 season. DEFCON is a South Florida based program that has had players like James Williams, Terrence Lewis and Antione Jackson.

Norland is one of the top targets for Miami in this upcoming class. He has been on campus several times and it looks like he is one of the top options at the position. Getting him to play with four-star safety Zaquan Patterson, 2025 four-star cornerback Chris Ewald and several other Miami targets plus having him in town often for potential visits is a strong progression in his recruitment.
