Four-Star QB Target Coming to South Florida to Play with Local 7v7 Team

Langston Hughes (GA) four-star QB Air Norland will be playing for DEFCON this 7on7 season. DEFCON is a South Florida based program that has had players like James Williams, Terrence Lewis and Antione Jackson.

Norland is one of the top targets for Miami in this upcoming class. He has been on campus several times and it looks like he is one of the top options at the position. Getting him to play with four-star safety Zaquan Patterson, 2025 four-star cornerback Chris Ewald and several other Miami targets plus having him in town often for potential visits is a strong progression in his recruitment.

History Says Cristobal Will Build A Winner

Based on history, there will be some superstars to emerge from the 2023 class. The fan base needs to be patient to watch it come to fruition. The roster is certainly getting upgrades at every position and an uptick in wins is bound to happen.

What are your expectations in year two of the Cristobal era with this given class?

Cormani McClain Update (12/29)

According to a source five-star, Miami commit Cormani McClain is expected to announce signing with Miami in mid-January with a target date of January 15th. McClain declined to take any questions regarding recruiting.

McClain delayed his commitment on Early Signing Day (December 21st). Colorado did make a last-second attempt to get McClain to sign with the Buffaloes.

Any further updates will be added to this thread.

ACC Bowl Season

I know many are still living in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s when Miami used to dominate. And many can't fathom losing to ACC teams that the Canes used to dominate in those eras. But based on this bowl season thus far the ACC is holding up.

Louisville beat Cincinnati 24-7, Wake Forest beat Missouri 27-17, and Duke beat UCF 30-13

If it wasn't for a last-minute touchdown from a Cristobal-recruited Oregon team over North Carolina 28-27 last night, the conference would be undefeated right now.

Let's see what FSU does against Oklahoma and Syracuse against Minnesota today though.

We still have NC State vs. Maryland, Pitt vs. UCLA and Clemson vs. Tennessee left.

Will be interesting to see how the ACC's record ends up and measures up against the other conferences.

Bowl season doesn't mean everything, but it means something

Miami needs to go after the Gators Ethan White in the portal

Miami needs OL and I’d rather be safe than sorry. As an example just like year we needed LB and we didn’t go after none until the last minute when in the beginning the gators had a good LB available but we didn’t show any interest so he went to play and start for Utah. So how did that work out for us???? Yes we’ve got a great recruiting class but let’s not make the same mistake twice. I’d say better be safe than sorry. Let’s get all the experience players possible that’s right next door to make this team a little more mature and stronger up front. Isn’t that what FSU did and how did that work out for them????? I think getting a player like White would be a great start to building The Great Wall of Miami.

Horton

Everyone, I know we need another elite DT but Joshua Horton is ready for College Football at it's finest. Watched this kid play a number of times this year and he will be elite. He dominates double teams and splits most offensive sets coming at him. This kid is a hard worker and wants to be great. I honestly think he plays right away. Has that Warren Sapp in him and won't be dominated by offensive lineman. Can't wait to see what he does when he steps onto Greentree field.

Remember When Kiffin To Miami Was A Thing

Ole Miss took an L last night to Texas 42-25. Many were thinking Lane Kiffin could be the answer after Manny Diaz but it seems Miami has made the right choice with Cristobal based on recruiting. The Rebels class ranks 51st with just 12 signees. I know Ole Miss did better on the field this season with an 8-5 record, but their best wins were against Kentucky and Texas A&M by three points each.

I feel comfortable betting the house that Miami will be better than Ole Miss in two years. Thankfully Miami wasn't on the Lane train.

Cormani McClain Delaying signing

From what we are hearing from Miami, there is no concern about Cormani McClain signing anywhere else at this time. We see the smoke about Deion Sanders in contact with Cormani McClain but I would guess at this time he stays with Miami. Overheard something about a video being the cause for the delay. Right now it's a Colorado/Miami battle because of talk of docuseries. Miami remains confident in signing McClain.

Miami Signee Christopher Johnson is Legit

Johnson was one of the best players at last night's all-star game which was choc full of D-1 players.

Johnson was used on jet sweeps and beat his man deep from the wide receiver position several times but was overthrown on two occasions.

He also was eager to get the ball and contribute for the entire game. All-star games typically do not have many signed players, but Johnson was eager to show what he could do for the hometown fans. Miami has a potential big-time playmaker in Johnson.

Here are two different angles from the same play during last night's Dade County Vs. Broward County Game.

Conversations

There are conversations with a former five-star and Miami, unfortunately I cannot reveal who the player is at this time hopefully I will be able to reveal soon. Can confirm that Miami is having conversations with four-star safety Jayden Bonsu again. These are just conversations but the Ohio State commit may not be a take for the Buckeyes. That's a situation to monitor.
