2025 QB to Watch

Findlay High four-star Ryan Montgomery has been in heavy contact with offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson and the first week of spring practice, Dawson will be heading to Ohio to check out the blue-chip passer. Montgomery is the younger brother of elite Ohio State OT signee Luke Montgomery and despite his brothers commitment, he has been vocally open to other programs and that includes Miami.

He fits the mold of what Miami wants in this offense at 6'3" 215-pounds and is a top 10 QB and top 100 prospect nationally. Elite film for the sophomore.

What T.A. Cunningham's move to Miami means for Hurricanes

The four-star defensive end is closer in proximity to Miami and is that much closer to commit to the Hurricanes. His brother has the potential to be a five-star talent and this could be potentially a package deal for Miami. The Cunninghams enjoyed his visit to Miami and said the Hurricanes are definitely one of his top schools and the momentum continues to build toward a commitment.

The Miami Hurricanes have already built a potential pipeline from the local national powerhouse Miami Central with potential starter Wesley Bissainthe and standout freshman Rueben Bain. Miami is strongly recruiting current Miami Central players Vincent Shavers, Ezekiel Marcelin, Amari Wallace, and Armondo Blount. The addition of T.A. Cunningham would only strengthen that bond.

Miami will have a chance at the No. 1 player in the country Cameron Boozer if...

Miami gets out of its contract with Adidas. The son of NBA great Carlos Boozer is locked in for future NIL deals with Jordan/Nike and he will not be attending a school that is not under the same apparel deal. Miami has about a year and a half left on on its deal with Adidas deal so they may be able to make some moves for the 2025 6'9" power forward from Miami Columbus by the time he officially leaves high school.

Miami 2024 QB and RB Board

Hearing that St. Frances (MD) QB Michael Van Buren is the #1 QB on Miami's board right now. They will take two in this class and I would not be surprised to see Miami try to jump in the race late on CJ Bailey, who just committed to NC State, or take a high potential flier on a guy like AJ Hairston, Luke Moga or Judd Anderson - all three-star or lower ranked players. I think Air Noland ends up going to a "bigger" named program like Ohio State, Texas A&M or Clemson.

At RB, I think they take two commits there as well, similar to 2023. Jerrick Gibson looks like he could be heading to Texas but the staff loves Alabama native Kevin Riley, as well as Anthony Carrie out of the Tampa area. They could take one of those two and then dip into South Florida for Jordan Lyle or Chris Wheatley-Humphrey. Tm Harris Jr. loves Chaminade-Madonna star Davion Gause, who just committed to North Carolina. Watch for Miami to try to get a flip there in the coming months, as Harris was pushing hard for Gause at UCF.

DeMarcus Van Dyke to leave Miami for FIU

Word is that Miami promised DVD the defensive backs position but the move has never came to fruition. Van Dyke has been longing for the position that he feels he has earned based on his work with the defensive backs last season and his efforts in recruiting.

This is a big loss for the Hurricanes because Van Dyke is very much plugged in with the community and local prospects connect with him on a high level.

This is a move that is rumored to try to force Mario Cristobal's hand to offer him the cornerbacks coach position and there is a high possibility that Van Dyke stays with FIU for just one year and returns to the Hurricanes next year.

Van Dyke never truly wanted to leave his alma mater but wanted the cornerbacks job more than anything.

Some WR Help Potentially on the Way...

Miami will be getting a visit from D2 transfer wide receiver JaQuae Jackson. The staff offered Jackson a couple days back, joining 17 other schools including Colorado, NC State, West Virginia and Pitt. He is coming off a Rutgers visit where they were pushing for a commitment on the spot but Jackson told Rutgers that he will not be committing because he is coming down to Coral Gables. The fact that he turned down the commitment with a b-line for Miami is an interesting turn.

Jackson was a D2 All-American who had 77 receptions, 1178 yards and 15 touchdowns last season
