Shootout At The Rock

All signs indicate that this will be a high scoring affair at Hard Rock Stadium. Turnovers and special teams are key factors in games like this. Drake Maye will be the best quarterback Miami faces until maybe the Clemson game. If they keep UNC under 30 they win the game... but will they. The line went down from 4 to 3.5 with Miami favored to win...Money going on UNC. The total number is 66 and I think it's likely it goes over, if it goes under that means another sad day for Van Dyke and the offense.

What do we think the final score will be?

10/6 Basketball Coverage at CanesCounty & a FutureCast in for Miami

Wanted to share this news and it is something that has been discussed internally between all of us on staff for a few weeks. We have made a commitment to bring better and up-to-date Miami Hurricanes Basketball coverage compared to the industry of South Florida Media outlets. We feel as if the Hurricanes Basketball team does not receive nearly the type of coverage or notoriety it actually deserves, and that is something we are going to change.

We will be at the Hurricanes Basketball Media Day Friday on campus and Basketball coverage will be a staple of CanesCounty from this day forward on the Rivals network. This is something I had taken pride in before and still do take pride in now, in terms of retrieving sources for Basketball in the spring when I had my own personal media outlet and before choosing Rivals in the summer. I had broke the stories on Nijel Pack and Norchad Omier transferring into the program during the off-season and much credit within that goes to solid sources close to the basketball program. That is a foundation and the expectation that will be set and carried over here at CanesCounty from me and the staff.

This very same plan we have with the Basketball team is similar to what will be coming from our end for the Baseball team at Miami. That is currently being set up by our staff for proper coverage on the team and recruiting in the near future. The Miami Hurricanes are more than just a Football team and we are committed to keeping you in the loop on Hurricanes Football, Basketball and Baseball.

The FutureCast pick:

After speaking to a few sources around the Miami Hurricanes Basketball team this week. The expectation is that Rivals150 Center Michael Nwoko from Windsor, California should be taking his talents to Miami and joining their 2023 recruiting class. I have logged a FutureCast pick in light of the upcoming commitment announcement for the 6'10" Center to Miami tomorrow.

Jim Larranaga and new assistant coach Kotie Kimble have done a phenomenal job recruiting Nwoko out of the west coast according to a source. They value Nwoko's ability being an active rebounder in the front court. The finalists are amongst Providence, Georgia Tech, Northwestern, Vanderbilt and UCLA aside from Miami. An official visit was set for this week with the UCLA Bruins for the Center but that will not be happening. He is announcing at 3:45 PM EST tomorrow, October 6th. Great timing coinciding with the Basketball Media Day coming up right?

The Miami Hurricanes Basketball team will be setting foot on the court at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida on October 30th for their first game of the season against the IUP Crimson Hawks.

Miami Gaining Traction With Newly Offered 2023 West Coast Wide Receiver

Lyons pops on film with a number of things this team is missing - length, speed, return ability. Would love to see him as the potential third receiver in this class

He had Miami in his top schools today:

Cristobal Updates Media On Injuries Going Into UNC Game

- Key players to be available for Saturday
- The mobility of UNC QB Drake Maye was once again a topic of discussion
- The defensive will have an opportunity to redeem themselves against another high powered passing offense
- Team mentality and preparation has improved since coming out flat against Middle Tennessee State

Is it time for Jake Garcia?

Hate to be that guy - but the play from TVD this year has been subpar in what is a more pro-style scheme. The reliance on Rambo and Restrepo might be more of a red flag than we thought and the confidence differential comparable to Garcia is drastic. No media access this week but I'm hoping for an open competition during the bye and maybe a potential start from Garcia against UNC to see if he is the potential guy that can help open up this offense

Important game

In my opinion this is a tremendously big game for miami and coach Cristobal. Can't afford to lose this game and start losing all the momentum that bringing the new regime has built up since arriving. If we can somehow correct everything and win this game it could be the start of run of wins until the challenge of the Clemson game that's what we need. Let's go canes

Forecasts: Cormani McClain & Dijion Johnson

I placed forecasts for five-star cornerback Cormani McClain and four-star safety Dijion Johnson. I have McClain heading to Alabama and Johnson to Florida.

McClain has long been favored to be heading to Bama and has shown it at events like the Future 50. The lineage of first-round pick defenders, the consistency of on field player and what we are hearing on his connection to Tony Mitchell make this a match made in heaven for the #1 CB in the country. Miami had a shot here but on-field play and not grabbing Tyler Williams killed any momentum. Florida is still in the fight and will keep pushing till the end in this two team battle.

Johnson to Florida is pretty cut and dry for me. I think Ohio State still has a shot but the option to stay home will be too much. Florida is pulling out all the stops to secure Johnson as well. Miami has been out of this fight for a little bit now, as the buzz on him potentially ending up in this class never recovered after the UF-Miami visit fiasco this summer.

Better performance for the WRs against MTSU a sign of things to come?

We saw Frank Ladson and Key'Shawn Smith come to life a little last week. I still want to see more Romello Brinson and less Michael Redding

The Democrats Are in Search of Their Next Scam” – President Trump Responds to Latest Fake News on National Archives

On Thursday the fake news mainstream media claimed documents retrieved by the National Archives at President Trump’s home in Mar-a-Lago included classified information.

This appears to be the latest fake news media scandal promoted by the regime’s news services to target President Trump.

On Friday night President Trump responded to the National Archives.

Via Trump spokesperson Liz Harrington.

TRENDING: Jeffrey Epstein's Close Friend and 'Pimp' Jean-Luc Brunel Found Dead in Apparent Prison 'Suicide' - He Allegedly Hung Himself, Prison Cameras Were Not Working at the Time

President Trump: “The National Archives did not “find” anything, they were given, upon request, Presidential Records in an ordinary and routine process to ensure the preservation of my legacy and in accordance with the Presidential Records Act. If this was anyone but “Trump,” there would be no story here. Instead, the Democrats are in search of their next Scam. The Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax turned out to be a Democrat inspired fake story to help Crooked Hillary Clinton. Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax #2, and so much more, has all been a Hoax. The Fake News is making it seem like me, as the President of the United States, was working in a filing room. No, I was busy destroying ISIS, building the greatest economy America had ever seen, brokering Peace deals, making sure Russia didn’t attack Ukraine, making sure China didn’t take over Taiwan, making sure there was no inflation, creating an energy independent country, rebuilding our military and law enforcement, saving our Second Amendment, protecting our Border, and cutting taxes. Now, Russia is invading Ukraine, our economy is being destroyed, our Border is once again overrun, and the mandate continues. Instead of focusing on America, the media just wants to talk about their plan to “get” Trump. The people won’t stand for it any longer!”

UPDATE: 4-star WR Target Tyler Williams and some FutureCast Predictions for Miami

While Miami has had the opportunity to make a late push with the UA All-American receiver coming off of two-game day visits this September. The Bethune-Cookman and Middle Tennessee State games respectively. Williams spent the weekend in South Florida on a visit to UM's campus for some photo-ops in Miami jerseys on Friday and one-on-one time with Miami coaches, a game day visit to Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday and some more time spent at the Miami Dolphins game on Sunday.

Despite the weekend trip that was an unofficial visit, I am logging in a pick here for the Georgia Bulldogs after speaking to a source close to Williams camp Sunday night. Williams is set to announce a commitment tomorrow. Miami made up a lot of ground after not being initially listed as one of Williams top schools. Georgia on the other hand has had a long standing relationship between Williams and receivers coach Bryan McClendon. McClendon has made it clear to Williams that he is a top priority for their 2023 class, and the Bulldogs have maintained a consistent relationship and recruiting efforts for seven months. Georgia has been viewed as Williams top choice of school dating back to the opening of the 2023 recruiting cycle in February.

While I have logged a pick for Tyler Williams to choose Georgia tomorrow, the Miami staff and receivers coach / offensive coordinator Josh Gattis will continue to recruit the four-star leading up to Early Signing Day in December. Williams still has an official visit in his pocket that he can put to use if he chooses and the Miami coaches will be pushing to get that last visit.

*** On another note, I had logged in a FutureCast pick for Katy, Texas five-star DL David Hicks to choose Oklahoma on Friday night, in light of his commitment date this upcoming Wednesday. I had mentioned during our Recruiting Q&A on September 14th and the impact visitors article before Miami's bout against the Aggies a week ago, that Oklahoma had pulled ahead of Texas A&M coming out of the summer months. Miami was still pursuing Hicks aggressively after his official visit to Coral Gables on June 10th.

*** Four FutureCasts I logged on Friday in favor of the Hurricanes. I like where Miami sits at this moment with 2023 cornerback targets (4-star) Damari Brown and (3-star) Edwin Joseph out of the Broward County area. Miami's biggest competition for Brown is the Clemson Tigers, Penn State being the contender against Miami for Joseph and an official visit over the weekend to Happy Valley. The other two picks were in the class of 2024, I continue to hear positive things on the recruiting front for Miami with (5-star) wide receiver Joshisa Trader and (4-star) safety Zaquan Patterson. While still a whole year away, I like where Miami stands with those two prospects early on.

Which DB Do You Trust?

Of all the opponents on the schedule Middle Tennessee (besides Bethune) was the one team that Miami would beat, no question. The loss makes me feel that Miami has a ways to go to be elite, but the ACC can still be won. The coaches have a week to figure things out. North Carolina can score and so can a number of other teams left on the schedule. We learn if Cristobal made the right choices to produce results right away, or this a two-year rebuild. The next two games will be a BIG indicator of that. Miami is on the road to Virginia Tech.

Cristobal will have so much to prove in the next two games and two years.

But the DBs...who do you trust? Kam Kinchens AKA JoJo is the one guy I trust right now. Somebody else needs to earn my trust and I'm hoping it's DJ Ivey, James Williams, and Tyrique Stevenson.

TVD Comments Valid?

We all know that Hard Rock Stadium does not have the best atmosphere, but to make these comments is going to make the fan base feel some kind of way. If they win the fans will fill up the stadium. I think Miami fans are prideful and do not want to go to a game and watch the team struggle with average teams. Plus weather is not conducive for football unless it's at night.

Thoughts?

Jacolby George Out Indefinitely. What Now At WR?

@BenjaminRivals announced that Jacolby George is out indefinitely with an injury.

Restrepo and George --arguably Miami's two best receivers -- are now out for multiple weeks. How will the receiver group respond? There are openings for everyone. Brashard Smith was obviously the next man up, but he hasn't proved anything yet. Redding had a couple of miscues. It's time for guys like Frank Ladson and Romello Brinson to come to the table when they're most needed.

Will Miami move Malik Curtis from DB to receiver? Will Jaleel Skinner get a look as an outside receiver?

Next man up, but it's going to take guys actually stepping up and not just taking reps.
