Are the 1's going against the 1's in practice? Any Oklahoma drills? Any physicality and toughness being taught at practice? You referenced a country club atmosphere at practice, so I'm assuming little to no hitting is going on, which explains the lack of physicality in the game. Poor tackling, poor angles, etc. Don't even get me started on the lack of physicality on the OL. They don't fire off, don't stay low, and don't maintain blocks long enough. Technique and toughness/physicality can be coached and it doesn't appear that the players are getting taught this in practice. Manny never played the game, but he has been coaching for a long time so he should know the importance of practicing blocking/tackling and overall physicality in practice. 1's vs 1's is a great way to make players compete and get better. Maybe you can pose the question the next time you have a chance?? I'm sure most folks would like to know the answer.
