It is pretty much in the article. Are you familiar with gerrymandering? The way the judge ruled is they didn't accurately have districts that represented the population of minorities in them. That is taking away voting rights and it has become a problem. It is how elections can be won. If you read this article and what the judges decided, you would understand what it is that is at stake. Peoples very constitutional right to vote....and have it count.
