Politco is mostly a liberal rag, But the occasionally do some very good work on DC related stuff. The article's conclusion is true, John Roberts as Chief Justice has lost control of the Supreme Court. The article correctly states how both Conservative and Liberal justices ignored his attempts to forge a compromise on the Roe case. That is unfortunate because some form of compromise is needed. But, IMO the article does not accurately state the reason's why he lost control.
He began to lose the consertatives during the Obama administration when he allowed Obama to excoriate the Court during the SUTO address. But when Alito's draft was leaked, Roberts lost the court forever. That is his job, to protect the process. He failed miserably. From a technology security standpoint it would be very easy to track every movement of the document in all forms. This is the Supreme Court not grandma's cookie recipe. Then he sits by while his judges have protestors at their doorstep. Yes, Roberts has lost the judges trust.
Have heard more than one suggest that Robert was the source of the leak.
