RIP MIAMI HEAT AND THE REST OF THE NBA

Covid happened. No one saw that. Irvin and how he handled Covid plus KDs injury is what happened.

Crazy thing is vegas and the analyst think if KD comes back healthy they are the top 2 team in the east behind the bucks.

Philly gave them an unbelievable trade.
Covid impacted everything and everyone, no question. But Kyrie's handling of this has been unlike anyone else's in sports, which is somehow not all that surprising considering it's him. He's an amazing player, but I've said often that he's "just a different dude," and I was never sure that b'ball is really all that important to him. And that's not a slight against him, he's not obligated to care about a sport as much as you or I do, but that's also why I was hesitant to go all in on him and the Nets. That was always part of it for me, him (and to a lesser extent Harden) being different dudes, KD's ultra-sensitivity, etc. Throw in their injury history, and I always felt there was too much opportunity for something to happen before they made it to the finish line.

But as I said, still surprised at this ending w/ Harden. I literally just googled to find out WHY Harden wants out so bad, and I can't find nuthin. Have you heard or has it been reported elsewhere? Everything they want still there for the taking, and he wants out?? 1 year later? Has to be something going on there. Crazy.

Most just think he didn’t like how Irvin wasn’t all in.

I sure as hell wouldn't.

And when I was looking for this thread, I came across another where you were smack-talking my Heat a little bit lol. Heat ain't looking too bad this year... ;)

I am a Heat fan. They are just lacking a superstar which is why to me their current rank is fool's gold.
Playoffs are about superstars. Brooklin has 2 (if KD is healthy), Bucks have 2, Philly NOW has 2, Heat has zero.

I agree with this. Jimmy's borderline, but I've always said he's not really a superstar. Neither is Bam, which is why I was surprised we signed him to a max deal.

What will be interesting is watching what the league does with some of these rules changes implemented this year. Many of those favored the superstars imo. But what happens when the playoffs roll around...will they stick with it or revert? I think we could get by with 1 if we kept Jimmy, Bam and some of the role players. Herro's had a nice bounce-back season and maybe Riles thinks he blossoms into a star?

And you can't give the Nets 2 if Kyrie's only playing road games...1 1/2 at best. And Simmons ain't no superstar either.

I am pretty confident the Covid rules are gonna somehow come out in Kyrie's favor when the playoffs start so the Nets will have 2 superstars at that point.

I think Hero could be a superstar but he needs to BULK up big time. If he had more athleticism he could be a white Kobe. He has the shooter mentality and can score from anywhere on the court. He lacks Kobe's defense and size, big time.

Heat were in the Finals just two years ago with a much lesser team than they have now. Brooklyn are flakes and a mess , the 76ers havent done a damn thing.

It’l be Heat vs Bucks in the East.

Go Heat! Six time NBA Finals and three time Champion. All in the last 15 yrs or so. Best in the NBA

How could anyone serious about winning a c'ship be on the same page with Kyrie? Believe me, I'm going light on Kyrie in this thread. I still maintain that just b/c he's so talented, it doesn't mean he has to like ball as much as me or the next guy. But he was also the biggest component of my feeling they weren't going to win it all. Odd dude.

And this is still Harden's best shot at a 'ship imo, so I don't think this whole thing is a good look for him either.

Very well could be. I loved watching that run we made to the Finals 2 years ago. But I also felt like we played over our heads that year...almost like we were the one team that benefitted from the covid shit. But still a great run. And still our recipe. We have more shooters than just D.Robinson (and Herro) now. If we stay healthy, we'll have a shooter's chance every night. We'll be pretty consistent with everything else imo so it's about knocking down shots.

Who watches the nba???????
Screw those Chinese loving, over grown, pituitary freaks.
pffft

Any of you basketball fans on this thread see the NBA All-Star draft w/ KD and Bron the other night? I just watched the video on youtube...you wanna see some funny shit, watch how KD avoids drafting Harden every pick 'til Bron has to take him last. Charles, Kenny and Shaq are laughing and joking about it while KD tries to keep a straight face, and Lebron literally has to cover his face with his clipboard b/c he can't stop laughing. Probably just need to watch the last couple minutes. Hilarious.

If KD comes back healthy the Nets are going to the dance. Kyrie put on a show tonight.

Ben Simmons was at peak performance tonight for the Nets against the Heat and displayed the same ability to impact the game that he got famous for in the playoffs last year for Philly. I'm terrified of this Nets team.

Naaa... two mental fuktards, one out of shape one who believes the earth is flat, and KD. Won’t get out of the East.

KD never should have left Golden State. Problem was he was too soft to deal with Draymond. The NBA is a dunk and 3-point league full of woke, soft, pu**ies who don’t play defense.

Not to mention the irony of the NBA players’ virtue signaling of racism and equality while sleeping with the Chinese government who murders religious minorities by the thousands each week and views African-Americans/westerners as racially inferior. Lmfao. Give me the 80s, 90s, snd 2000s NBA under Stern. NBA ratings continue to plummet under Silver’s dumbass. Go woke go broke.

Bro you still putting that much stock in Kyrie? Crazy talented, but he just doesn't care about ball enough for that imo. Can't win a 'ship playing sometimes, caring sometimes, putting on that display sometimes. Not even mentioning the likelihood that both those dudes can stay healthy for a full playoff run.

Vets just care about the playoffs. They aren’t interested with the regular season.

Heat clobber the Nets last night handing them their 11th loss in a row. Meanwhile Heat have won 5 in a row.

Dem flaky Nets 🤣

Kyrie dropped 60 tonight. Do the Miami Heat have a player that can drop 60? Nets have 2 players.

Kyrie caught standing around on that last play when he should have played that passing lane. Great offensive talent though. That's going to be one hell of a series. It will probably go 7.

They still don't play playoff defense....as I said when this thread started. If you can't play playoff defense you don't win in the NBA. That has pretty much held true.

How about them Nets?

Poster er1942 is in the fetal position crying 😭

he says he’s a Heat fan though lol
I generally believe he is, but he's a fan of "stars" too. And he's not alone, particularly when it comes to the nba. This year's Heat team will actually be a good test to the widely-held view that nba b'ball is a superstar-driven league, and you simply can't win it all without them. The Heat has incredible depth and some fantastic players, though none that would truly be considered "superstars" (although Jimmy Butler may be making me rethink that as we speak).
