Final Update:
Canes Win!!!! Canes Win!!!! Canes Win!!!!! Canes Win!!!!! Canes Win!!!!!
Check out this stat:
Miami wins its 14th straight opening day game. Dating back to 1990...the U is 28-5 in season openers. Not too shabby.
It wasn't pretty for an opener but with 7 new players in the lineup....and give credit to Towson...they are a scrappy club...
Final Scorecard:
It was a sloppy first game...we had to score 5 in the 6th to rally...we committed 3 errors...2 by a new FR in LF...but our pitching staff also got 14 K's...
PITCHING
Dubberly (1-0) gets the W. in relief...Walters was really good as our closer...
BATTING
Pitelli was the big bat going 4-4 with a HR and double for 4 RBIs...
Romero was 2-4 with a 2-run double...
Burke got his first hot as a Cane...a HR...he had 2 RBIs...
Miami is 1-0, Towson 0-1....
Game 2 is 2 pm Saturday...Carson Palmquist makes his debut...Game 3 is at 7 pm. Remember, in between these game is men's hoops hosting UVA...big sports day on campus...
Both baseball games are 9 innings...I doubt I will cover Game 3 and cover 18 innings in one day.....but I do want to see Palmquist...we'll see about doing Game 4 on Sunday.
Go Canes!
