did quality of wins become more important than losses? Oklahoma’s loss to 6-4 and soon to be unranked Iowa State is so insignificant that Oklahoma is a shoe-in for the top 4? Really? And Clemson’s loss to 4-6 Syracuse is meaningless?
Oklahoma beat Ohio State (which got drummed by 6-4 and soon to be unranked Iowa), 1-9 Baylor (by one score), 5-5 Texas (by one score), 5-5 K-State (by one score), and Ok State and TCU (both of which have 2 losses). Are those wins really that impressive (particularly when you consider that Oklahoma has given up 41 points to Baylor, 35 to K-State, and 52 to Ok State)? Impressive enough to ignore a loss to Iowa State?
Clemson has beaten Auburn (by 1 score), VTech, and NC State (by 1 score). Are those wins so impressive that a loss to a losing team should be overlooked?
And then there’s Miami. All our Canes have done is beat EVERYONE we have played, including Number 3 Notre Dame and VTech (both in dominating fashion). Oh, and of course we beat that sneaky little Syracuse team that knocked off Clemson. We certainly seem to be peaking and playing the best football in the country right now, and we have not lost to ANYONE.
So, with those facts in mind, how can anyone justify putting one-loss Clemson or Oklahoma ahead of us (or, for that matter, Wisconsin)?
