Miami likely to get summer visit from five-star DL

The top player in the 2025 class, Elijah Griffin, is planning a June visit to Miami. This is a huge development. He is also aiming to visit with his teammate, 2025 double-digit offered TE Logan Brooking.

This would be the first visit to Miami for the elite prospect. Home state Georgia is looking like an early favorite for Griffin but he has said himself that things are 100% open in his recruitment. He has taken trips to Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida State.

Last season, he had 14.5 sacks and 30 tackles for loss as just a sophomore while playing mainly as a defensive tackle. Miami is in a good position already with fellow top 2025 defensive Armando Blount, Brandon Brown, Anthony Smith and a strong visit with Griffin creates huge potential in that class.

Transfer Portal

Miami is expected to fill eight transfer spots in the next week or so via the transfer portal. The positions that Miami is looking to fill are wide receiver, offensive line, defensive line, and defensive back.

One of which could very well be defensive back Jaden Davis. The former Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas standout is seriously thinking about a return home and it could come as soon as Wednesday of next week. He was the starting cornerback for Oklahoma and his 2022 season statistics include 23 solo tackles and 2 passes defended. The 5'10" 180-pound corner was a four-star prospect coming out of high school.

After losing the job in 2020, he won it back to open 2021, but then lost it again. Still, he regained the starting gig to begin the 2022 season and started the first nine games of the season before an injury knocked him out of the starting lineup.

In 47 career games, Davis totaled 104 tackles during his OU career, including a career-high 35 last season. He had 11 career passes defended, including one interception during the 2019 season.

According to reports, Davis is officially visiting Illinois this week.

Chaminade-Madonna ATH Joshisa Trader will be joining teammate and top five safety Zaquan Patterson on campus this weekend.

His relationship with WR commit Chance Robinson plus Miami’s focus on Patterson gives Miami more of a shot with Trader, who is looking at FSU and Ohio State mostly outside of Miami.
