In a complete surprise to everyone, the top cornerback in the country Cormani McClain commits to the Canes

He is the biggest cornerback commit in program history and staffer Demarcus Van Dyke deserves a ton of praise for this relationship with Cormani and his mom. This completely overshadows the current landscape of the season and proves Miami can still save a top 5 class in 2023 with momentum going into 2024

For those thinking that Miami has a shot at the five-star, those chances are slim to none. I'm hearing that Florida has jumped into the lead over Alabama. McClain has an announcement date set for October 27th. Miami has a punchers chance but will have to pull a hail mary in a week to land the lockdown cornerback.

So many people were acting like he was a better option then Van Dyke but it appears to me from the small sample amount that he needs more time to develop.

Watkins updates visits to FSU and Miami on Rivals:

We have the worst LB core in college. Corey Flagg gets killed all the time. He is either out of assignment or he can't read where to go he always takes bad angles and gets blocked easily. Keyontra Smith just can't cut it he is a better player than Flagg but it's time for this old group to go bring some new energy. They can't tackle worth a damn. Also James Williams needs to learn the technique of tackling all he has is aggression and a lot of time that has him doing stupid penalties or trying to tackle with a shoulder and missing the tackle.

This is about to be a long season but I know there is light at the end of this tunnel.

I think Miami still has the right guy. Cristobal was brought in to change the program, not win a championship with a Manny Diaz roster in year one. You see the growth from a number of the players this staff has brought in. I think the talent evaluation has drastically improved under the new regime and the pieces (Highsmith, Radakovich) are in place for a bright future. The NIL game is still in Miami's favor and that will be huge in recruiting.

Patience and support will be needed going forward if this staff is going to have any chance. Once the full overturn happens, I fully expect this team to take the necessary steps forward

TVD will return and Garcia will transfer if he doesn't do a good job the remainder of the way.. Personally I would have liked to see Brown put in after his second turnover.

Yet another top 2024 corner prospect, this time IMG product Desmond Ricks reclassifies to 2023. Miami is one of this top choices and Miami could be looking at two young CB takes in this class

A Miami WR target will potentially be decommitting and Miami is heavily in play here, based on a source very close to the situation. Won't name the player yet but something to watch. This would be a huge pickup as an outside target and the push for a top five class.

Thursday Night: Homestead beat up on Miami Northwester, 44-28. Will have more on that later today. Palmetto took their fifth loss of the year against Norland 35-14. Sophomore QB Ennio Yapoor had over 300 yards of total offense and 4 touchdowns whil 2024 WR Isaiah Scott had over 160 yards and two scores himself.

You know things have gotten totally out of control when a military academy is charged with recruiting violations. I don't understand how that is even possible. All applicants need to be nominated by a member of Congress. It's not like they can just offer money to lure top recruits. They operate off budgets that are aided by the U.S. Government. Their purpose is to develop quality Officers not win football games.

Wednesday gave us appearances from Mario Cristobal, Lou Hedley, Frank Ladson and Darrell Jackson

Miami is high on 2023 three-star Oklahoma commit Kaleb Spencer. He visited for the North Carolina game and Miami is pushing for an official visit. Miami has yet to add a safety to the 23 class.

Miami offered 2026 ATH Markel Dabney out of Life Christian Academy. The freshman holds offers from Maryland, Virginia Tech, Duke, Coastal Carolina Ole Miss and Pitt.

Something to note is he is the teammate of Oklahoma commit safety Kaleb Spencer. Miami still has no safety commit in this class and Spencer is someone Miami has rumored to be in contact with.

Dabney is already 6' 210 and Spencer is 6'3" 205. I got a chance to see both players down here the first week of the season when they played Stranahan and both are Miami caliber prospects.

Why did it take this long for Colbie Young to get going? I identified his capabilities in fall camp. His tape doesn't lie. If Miami can get Jacolby George and Xavier Restrepo back. This can be a formidable group going forward. Injuries are part of the game but if Miami can get healthy in time for Florida State and Clemson. I like our chances.
