Because coaches are on a hotseat so quickly here they are in a rush to get anyone on the field who might be able to help them. At Wake Forest they redshirt almost everyone. Part of that is many are 2 stars and have to be developed. But out on the field it shows having juniors and seniors on the field. They beat UNC and FSU this year with 2- star guys..
Now for us with weak classes due to probation,NFL attrition(mostly bad choices) and coaching changes our senior classes have been small . We redshirt very few players and have to rely on sophomores, freshmen and(yikes ) Walkons too often
We also have had bad luck at the LB position with the 2 prime backups injured badly late last year. Our DLine is relatively young on the interior and Manny is redshirting the NY guys to get them stronger .
Manny would argue to be patient and let guys mature and play better . Our DBs are very inexperienced except for bandy There is no way Manny blows a redshirt of anyone that looks promising for next year.
All we can hope for is gradual improvement from the young guys ,we find a kicker and the younger more athletic linebackers like Huff and Brooks et al surprise us.
If we had a kicker this year we are arguably 6-2 with all the hopes for the future. So while it seems like disaster time right now and it is ,the great thing about college FB is it can change a lot from one year to the next.
