All aboard the DJ Ivey hype train?!

I know, you probably don't want to hear it. Time and time again Miami fans rave about members of the secondary who don't end up exceeding expectations.

However, this appears different

Since Mario Cristobal's re-arrival at UM, he's only spoken wonders about DJ Ivey.

Just this week, he's called him an excellent teammate, with elite physical traits and the right work ethic to motivate those around him.

I'm not gonna lie, I hear this and get goosebumps. I'm not sure there's a better compliment(s) you can get from a coach before you even play a game for him.

"I can't say enough good things about him. Just look at the physical traits, he's exactly how you want him drawn up. He's long, tall, explosive, athletic, his ability to redirect, his hips, ankle flexibility. You name it, he can do it."

I mean, COME ON. You'd think Cristobal is talking about a first-round pick.

Obviously, Ivey has been inconsistent during his career at UM, but could it have been a coaching problem? Only time will tell.

This list will continue to be updated all the way until kickoff of Miami’s opening game of the season vs. Bethune Cookman on Saturday. There will be a confirmed list of visitors spotted attending the game, after the game. I am currently reaching out to multiple prospects as we speak, that the Miami coaching staff is actively recruiting.

It's Game Week!

It's finally here.

What are we most excited about?

Who gets the starting linebacker spot?

Who should start at corner?

Who should start at d-tackle?

How much playing time should Jake Garcia/Jacurri Brown get?

Should Tyler Van Dyke play at all?

How many fans do you think show up?

Who's the stat monster for game one?

Sit Jaylan Knighton as a precaution?

How many points does Bethune score? And what number does it become a disappointment?

These are my first thoughts going into the week. What's yours? Got answers?

Yero: Miami Central defeats national powerhouse IMG Academy

@michaelyero and I have been all-in on coverage about this 2022 Miami Central from the second Jube Joseph was named the new head coach. Summer workouts, 7on7 camps, fall practices and now the regular season. We saw the vision and knew they could hang with the best of the best.

Miami Central's defense was lockdown against IMG, shutting them out in the entire second half. Rueben Bain, he's truly 1 of 1. He was giving IMG' s o-line hell all night. Francis Mauigoa did give him trouble, though.

I called Bain after the game and we chopped it up for a couple of minutes. He's locked in, no other way to explain it. He's a star and Miami needs to continue doing all it can to land the gem of the 2023 class. Bain told me he felt that he dominated, but still could've done better. Miami Central's schedule isn't a cakewalk, with matchups against top South Florida schools.

We also saw a lot from non-Miami targets, FIU QB commit Keyone Jenkins was leading his troops all night. He's an exceptional leader, and without him there's no Miami Central. Two-star receiver Cataurus Hicks must've had over 100 receiving yards. He's been great in 7on7 and at all of Central's practices this offseason. He's got that dawg in him. Don't think Miami would pursue him, but there's no reason he shouldn't be at a P5.

Miami Central has exceptional youth that will certainly be recruited by the Hurricanes in future classes. DB Amari Wallace had an INT and was tackling efficiently. LB Ezekiel Marcelin was all over IMG. I like what I saw from the 2025 prospects.

Miami targets/commits:

Riley Williams had a great catch and run for a first down and more. Didn't have any other catches. Antonio Tripp either didn't play or played very little. Bain told me he didn't see him the entire night.

Jayden Wayne had a big-time TFL on a fourth down early in the 4th quarter. Samuel M'Pemba didn't make any notable plays. 2024 four-star running back Jerrick Gibson was breaking tackles and making something out of nothing all times. Really like what I saw. He won RB MVP at the UA Future 50 camp.
