Marcus Allen (Miami Official Visit)

I spoke to four-star Marcus Allen last night on his upcoming official visit to the University of Miami. He’s set the date for August 21-23.

A hometown kid, Allen played at Miami Norland (FL.) before transferring to Arizona Compass Prep (AZ.this summer.

Norland is where Dewan Hernandez, who played with the ‘Canes, played high school basketball at.

I filmed AZ Compass last year, having stayed just a few minutes away from the school. I’ll be making my way there more often to keep an eye on Allen.

Got a lot of great stuff from him. Will have the story up this week.

Who Has a Breakout Year?

My vote is for Arroyo. I think the tight ends are really going to be featured in Josh Gattis' offense. Arroyo has yet to really show how he can be an impact player. With the focus on Mallory, Arroyo will get some open looks.

The kid is super athletic and we'll see why he was highly recruited out of high school this season.

Who's your breakout player?

1 month in. Let's keep growing

We're officially one month into the journey with Canes County/Rivals.

I would love to get feedback and thoughts from the community and understand what you guys want to see.

Definitely lots of recruiting, but the season is on the way and it's time to lock in. Media day on Tuesday, so there'll be a lot of content from there.

I also want to learn more about the people on the forums. How long have you been a Cane fan? Who's the best player or what's the best memory that you have seen in person?

Miami 17th? I think they should be ranked higher.

I think Miami is the second-best team in the ACC. Although this is the coaches poll, which generally does not have much as stock as the AP, this is still pretty telling of what the country thinks about Miami. I think Miami is better than Pitt and NC State, but we'll see what happens on the football field.

Gorney’s Madden BS

Look I try to stay away from all the conspiracy stuff but to not even rank DVD on that stupid madden thing this ass hat puts out it’s just disrespectful at this point – I’m more pissed for the kids he deserves something like that to enjoy- all around first round pick on almost every mock draft and this dip shit leaves him off

Post Practice #4: What I've Seen At WR

The WR competition is one of the biggest headlines heading into the season.

The way these 15-20 minute media viewing sessions have panned out, all we get to see without putting on some binoculars are QBs, tight ends, wide receivers and DBs. Of all the position groups, I've spent the most watching the receivers. Not going to lie, I've been to three of the four practices, and it's kind of like if you press replay each and every time. It's the same drills -- footwork and agility -- topped off by some route running.

Once media gets off the field, offense and defense will work together, but we don't get to see that.

Here's what I've seen from the wide receivers.

Key'Shawn Smith has been the best player in drills and continuously showcases his great hands. Xavier Restrepo is the leader of the group and seems to always be vocal and first in line, but he's had two drops in the practices I've been to. He'll definitely be a key contributor, just not WR1.

Frank Ladson has great size, but hasn't been a standout in drills. He dropped a pass from TVD today. Still early, though. Colbie Young has the best build in the receiver room, but he's going to be a project. He doesn't have great feet yet, but I give him credit for catching everything thrown his way.

Freshman Isaiah Horton has an excellent 6-foot-3 frame and looks good in practice. Still too early to jump ship and say a true freshman receiver is going to play anytime soon.

Brashard Smith is quick and his burst is going to create many exciting plays this season. We saw a glimpse last season, and he's going to be even better. Jacolby George looks poised heading into year two, I could see him racking up plenty of yards this season. Also great to see Romello Brinson active after missing the spring. Mike Redding could be a great possession receiver, still have to see more.

The top three receivers right now are Key'Shawn Smith, Jacolby George and Xavier Restrepo. No reason Key'Shawn and Restrepo shouldn't be top 3, and Jacolby has what it takes. I'm hoping Romello Brinson takes that next step, but it'd be premature for me to go all in given that he didn't play in the spring and we don't see the guys go live in practice.

NIL Money

Reporters yesterday at media day were asking about what the players do with their NIL money. Is this something that fans want to know about?

College football I'm sure will be coming out with some laws for schools to abide by but I am hearing that schools are promising millions of dollars players for commitments. That seems so outrageous to promise a kid that can't legally drink or rent a car.

What are your thoughts on NIL overall? Do you think kids should get paid? Should colleges promise kids money to get their commitment?

Miami Fall Practice (Day 3)

Here at Miami with Anthony for day three of Fall Camp.

Much of the same as day one. Frank Ponce had the quarterbacks actively participating in a series of drills.

The quarterbacks spent most of the morning working with the tight ends.

Something to note: DL Josh Neely, a fourth-year sophomore, was working with the tight ends. He caught one from Jacurri Brown earlier.

Will speak to Josh Gattis in a few minutes, along with RBs Jaylan Knighton and Henry Parrish.

I used to be a UM licensee and my experience with Ferman

About 22 years ago I licensed A line of football shaped chlorinators and thermometers for hot tubs and pools.

I started out with 3 schools, University of Miami, Florida and Florida state. I eventually got an NFL license and had all 32 NFL teams at the time.

My company was purchased by a toy company called Swimways And that company was eventually purchased by Spin master who makes PAW Patrol at the time the 3rd largest toy company in rhe business). I have since spent the last 22 years in the toy industry and it has been very good to me, it was one of the best moves that I ever made.

Gary had a small store front in the Pembroke Pines Cooper City embassy lakes area for some time back then. I remember going in and showing him my product and giving him the run down on it.
He was the only local business that was supposed to be about the Hurricanes that didn't carry my product. He said to me in a very condescending fashion that this would never work And essentially I was embarking on a Poor choice. I don't think people will want this, he said.

That lit my fire and today I could buy his business 10 times over (not bragging but proud to prove him wrong) so When I read the post about the new site and how they were unable to negotiate with him during the transition, it really doesn't shock me at all because he has a very big attitude for a really small guy. In my opinion hes not half the business person he thinks he is. I never left the site because I like the main board and I still enjoy reading about my about my canes but this was a story I wanted to share and and it's always stuck with me over the years.

I'm also one of the original cane sport members that came from the group of Franchise, FSU who, Litee and SOFA. He ran almost every good poster on this site off. Literally getting half of his information from these people that had Friends or relatives on the team or coaching staff And then posting it as if he was Is breaking the Story. Anyway There's a little 1st hand knowledge for all of you.
