I do believe that the discussion is too often binary: eg

forest management vs global warming
fossil fuels vs alternative fuels
deregulation vs environmental regulation

Im hoping we we can move to a more nuanced approach to these serious issues like wildfires. Shouting out “poor forest management” with a counter cheer of “global warming” gets us nowhere.

Cortez. I’m not saying I don’t think we should continue to strive for alternative energy but the Harsh restrictions that are coming your way will destroy CA economy. Here’s one article you can find on Google out of 100 that actually gives a conservative view on the Wildfires. I’m asking you to read it and give me your thoughts. I’m not expecting to change your mind but hope you will at least see the bias that is out of control on the left. Big Tech is all in to restrict differing viewpoints. It really should concern every American.

I read the article you recommended. The author definitely has an agenda and a political POV. But, I thought it was a rational, reasonable and well argued piece. I had never heard of “The Critic” magazine in the UK. Any background on its founders? It was created just recently in 2019.

If I was Gavin Newsome, I’d appoint a czar of “fire” supported by a nonpartisan committee of experts representing all aspects of the issue (climate, forestry, urban expansion, fossil fuel policies, etc etc ) as advisors. We need a comprehensive and integrated attack on our chronic and massively destructive ongoing fires.

Thanks for the response. Your idea of a Czar sounds like a very good one. The Critic is a brilliant magazine with Mostly intellectual conservative points of view but not totally. Here’s a pretty good article on their founding and how they came to be.
