Last night Russian troops attacked the Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine. This is so out of bounds there are no words. Chernobyl is in Ukraine. Is he just trying to make Ukraine a wasteland of radioactivity?

This thing has escalated quickly to a point that I don't think anyone imagined. Where I thought no NATO forces would ever participate, now I worry about the next phase because a madman is on the loose.

Some on Fox are acting like Russia is somehow doing something new and different. I find myself turning to CNN who at least has a few military knowledgeable guests that will discuss the grim facts of the strategies that are in place and the possible outcomes. Fox seems to have its hosts trying to out do each other by stringing together hyperbolic phrases such as "really, really awful, terrible and horrific". We know that, the impotant question is how to end the situation. I am certainly not a CNN fan, but I would rather learn something about the situation than hear Waters tell us "Putin is a bad guy" - like that is new information.

My biggest fear is that Putin becomes desperate and resorts to Nukes. He seems very proud of his Nuke arsenal and keeps reminding people of his capabilities. Hard to tell if it's just bluster but he's clearly losing his grip and threatening to impose martial law as his own people turn against him.

The current Russian nuclear arsenal is the largest, followed by the USA. If Russia and the USA go to war, there will always be a theoretical chance for nuclear war once again. Russia has 6,257 nuclear warheads of which 1,456 are currently deployed
AOC, John Kerry, Biden and Kamala and other idiots think a gas guzzlin SUV is bad for the environment, try a few nukes.

I have heard a few liberal loons actually believe that Putin will be captured, tried for war crimes and that they will somehow implicate Trump with him. Does anyone with a sane mind believe that if Putin thought he would be arrested by the West that he would not prefer to go out in a nuclear blaze?

I did the study on this at work for Dept of Def along with Sandia National Lab. This is NOT a Chernobyl type reactor. And prevailing winds are currently toward Russia this time of year. Bad...yes. But the worst case scenario with this particular plant is not quite as bad as being made out to be. There would be no global disaster or radiating of all of Europe. A complete meltdown of all 6 reactors would require evacuations of the local area and create a long term agricultural disaster within several miles of the reactors. But this is not a Chernobyl type event. If Russia wanted to rupture the containment that would have been done by now and they would not use artillery shells. There are plenty of other war crimes being committed by the Russians right now.
